The Independent Living Learning Centre, established in July 2003, caters to the needs of children, adolescents and young adults with developmental conditions. The aim has been to promote the students’ optimum quality of life and maximizing their learning potential. ILLC hopes to prepare them for Independent Living and Self-sufficiency in the domains of self care, work and recreation through contemporary and functional approaches in special education and the paramedical fields of occupational, physical and speech therapy. ILLC’s interdisciplinary program is dedicated to promote effective transitioning of an individual from the school or clinic to actual life contexts. Practical learning activities for independent living are provided in home and community settings to help generalize learning.
